Zhangjiajie, located on the northwestern border of Hunan Province, is known for its unique tourist resources. Wulingyuan Scenic Area, made up of the first National Forest Park- Zhangjiajie and two nature reserves, posses 360 square kilometers. The main land feature is quartzes sandstone that is rare in the world. It is a perfect combination of the beauty of Guilin, the queerness of Mt. Huangshan, the peril of Mt. Huashan and the magnificence of Mt. Taishan. Pavilions, bridges, caves, lakes and waterfalls are anywhere. Consequently, it enjoys the name of ‘an enlarged potted landscape’, ‘a miniature fairyland’. And it is also the location where the well-known movie Avatar was shot.

A. Arrive by Flight.
Zhangjiajiie is a small city where there are limited flights from Beijing, Xi’an, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanghai and Changsha. Most of them are late evening flights.
B. Arrive by Train.
There are trains from nearby cities like Yichang, Changsha, etc. But the normal trains are now suggested which are with limited condition. While it is a good news that the high speed train from Changsha there opens recently which only takes only around 2.5 - 3 hours!
Zhangjiajie can be visited all year round but your experiences may vary according to the seasons. But comparatively, March to late November should be the best time to go there. Please mind to avoid the Peak Travelling time like Labor Holiday, National Holiday to avoid the big crowds.
